My advice to you, if you would want to consider a nursing career or work in a hospital is don’t be afraid to try new things. Nursing is all about learning, always being lifelong learners. It’s always good to be the person that’s asking questions, so don’t be afraid to try new things.

I would say the advice to anybody who wants to go into health care is do the best you can…now. You know, just focus on the present. Do the best you can in all subjects, reading, math science. And then at some point, maybe volunteer in settings that are as close to health care as you can get. So you get an idea of what it’s like. And also reach out and talk to people that are already physicians or nurses or other health care professionals.

Seeking out mentorship programs are great to start your career in healthcare. It provided me with the support that I needed to become the nurse I am today and to remember to prioritize your own health because you are taking care of people every single day. We need to take care of yourself too.
