Oakland, Md. – Taylor Troy, RN, was recently named the quarterly recipient of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses at Garrett Regional Medical Center (GRMC). This award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s mission to recognize the extraordinary, compassionate nursing care that nurses provide patients and families every day.
Troy was nominated for the award by a patient’s spouse who was visiting the area on vacation for the first time. The nomination commended Troy for making them feel at ease and ensuring they received the best care possible during a frightening time.
According to the nomination form, Troy was very informative, professional, kind, and gracious. She really went above and beyond to care for the patient during a difficult time.

The DAISY Foundation is a not-for-profit organization, established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes by members of his family. The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique means of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patient families.
More than 2,000 health care organizations nationally participate in the award program. GRMC began participating in the program in 2018.
Nurses may be nominated by patients, families, and colleagues. The award recipient is chosen by a committee at GRMC through a blind selection process sanctioned by the DAISY Foundation.
