Marylanders Invited to #JoinMdHealth: Successful Hospital Workforce Recruitment Campaign Extended
With an estimated one in every five nursing positions vacant statewide, and numerous other openings including in administrative roles, security, engineering, and nutrition services, the Maryland Hospital Association (MHA) is relaunching its JoinMdHealth workforce recruitment campaign.

JoinMdHealth is a major tool for hospitals to combat the critical health care worker shortage. The pilot campaign launched in January 2023 by MHA’s hospitals and health system members to highlight hospital jobs for every interest and education level. The long-term goal is to address the state’s historic health care workforce shortage.
Overall, within six months, the 2023 campaign reached 10 million impressions across digital channels—showing a remarkable interest in working in Maryland hospitals. This previous success motivated the Association and its members to extend the initial pilot and continue to invite Marylanders to consider rewarding careers.
About the JoinMdHealth Campaign
JoinMdHealth features students, doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, and certified nursing assistants along with pharmacy, surgical, radiology, and sterile processing technicians discussing their career paths, why they are proud of their work, and the advice they have for those interested in joining them.
“We are thrilled to relaunch the impactful JoinMdHealth campaign in Maryland. A career in hospital care is more than a job. It is an opportunity for all Marylanders—no matter their age, education, background, or skill set—to make a difference in our communities while improving their own futures,” says Melony G. Griffith, MHA President & CEO.

A 2022 GlobalData report commissioned by MHA reveals a considerable shortfall of nurses in Maryland. The report predicts the shortage will grow worse without intervention. In response to these deficits, MHA convened a member-led Task Force on Maryland’s Future Health Workforce in 2021. Altogether, the workforce recruitment campaign was one of the key recommendations.
Hospital careers are for everyone. Whether you’re in school now or thinking about a rewarding career, Maryland hospitals have flexible opportunities for every interest and education level.
