Diallo, Simulation Technician
As a simulation tech, Diallo shares his experience working at Sinai Hospital and how he found himself studying technology to now working in health care.
What inspired you to work in health care?
Diallo says,” I’ve been here for over a year now and it’s been one of the best opportunities I’ve ever had so far. What inspired me to pursue my career, helping people for the most part. When I was getting my associate degree in information technology cybersecurity, I always wanted to help people to the best of my abilities. But, once I realized that I only like computers and don’t love computers, I quickly changed it to another degree at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, where I was able to stumble upon an internship with simulations and SiTEL. I quickly fell in love with it because of the mix of information technology and medical assistance and I quickly fell in love with it.
What do you like most about your job as a simulation tech?
“It’s forever changing from the technology, from the procedures, the policy and the education, the medical field is something that’s forever growing and forever advancing for better causes.”
What’s been the most rewarding part?
“The most rewarding thing that I’ve experienced in this health care field so far is working with the new residencies, nursing students, and university students. Seeing them graduate on the other side after helping them through, not difficult but challenging times they experience here has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever seen. From their families coming by and congratulating them and their teams, welcoming them onto the floor. It’s really been a rewarding experience to see that.”
